Design for an “Audience of One”

A murb'ed feed, posted almost 6 years ago filed in business, design, development, tech & society.

Many in IT seem to enjoy eating their dogfood, but as Steven Sinofsky writes:

The term “dogfooding” (while gross) is a popular way to describe using your own product. Most every product built is dogfooded in some way, unless they are highly specialized.

Dogfooding is an incredibly powerful technique…until you realize your company is unique.

Good take on how software development can go wrong badly: by focussing on that great feature you and your team always wanted to have your your particular set-up. Good for you if that works, but do realise there are plenty of opportunities outside our tech-o-sphere that need solving and/or groups of users that need empowerment.
