Thank god for the internet archive, or we would have forgotten everything that happened before like 2015, thanks to rampant site redesigns breaking URLs
We all recognize this. In a short discussion (like only Twitter can offer) I suggested search engines should pay more attention to the historical awareness of websites, fighting link-cruft. But, true, only libraries (like the internet archive can guarantee long term availability. Kind of sad.
