Censorship is becoming bigger problem these days. In this blog post the IPFS team explains how wikipedia content can be made accessible, even when the access to the location where the contents resides is being blocked.
IPFS is a new protocol that enables one to create an address for content, instead of an address for a location on which (possibly changing or disappearing) contents resides. I heard first from IPFS when one developer decided to pull his modules from npm. After this several projects spun up that tackled the problem of disappearing packages on this popular JavaScript-modules-repository. But working around censorship of thoughts and information for the many is a much loftier goal than fixing the nuisance of a relatively small developer crowd.
