A post by basecamp, fka 37signals: Running in Circles Why Agile Isn’t Working and What We Do Differently. Agile by them is defined as ‘Enterprisy Agile’, that is just the waterfal method on steroids, just speedy iterations. What they do differently in summary:
- Deliberate resource allocation: you won’t be disturbed all the time (actually a core scrum principle as well, only the scrum master can be disturbed / sprint is fixed)
- Mutable requirements: you’re out to solve something
- Uphill strategies: solving a problem is ‘visualized’ by walking over a hill. Heavy upward first (uncertain), followed by work to be done downhill (certain). Like how designers converge and diverge (Dutch).
Actually I don’t think it is necessary in conflict with ‘Enterprise Agile’ (aka Scrum), just keep the prescribing todo items out and stick with ‘user stories’.
